| The MSC Adult Employment Programs were implemented in November of 2000. There are presently four Adult Employment Consultants on staff. In addition to free employment counselling, the program offers employment search workshops. Vocational Assessment using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® and the Jackson Vocational Interest Survey ® is available. |

It is a firm philosophy of the program to foster self-empowerment in our clients. The role of each Adult Employment Consultant is to provide guidance and support to each client, in a manner that addresses each individual's personal needs, and builds upon his or her abilities and goals. In partnership with an Adult Employment Consultant, it is hoped that you, as a client, will benefit from the specifiic services recommended or provided to you.

| Job Connect: |
Youth Employment Services offers free employment supports to youth and connects these youth to local employers seeking to fill vacancies within their businesses. The Job Connect program is provincially funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, and is delivered locally by the Multi-Service Centre (MSC).

The Apprenticeship Client Services Training Consultant for this area is available to provide apprenticeship information at no cost to you. The Training Consultant is available on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm at The Livingston Centre. Employers - we can help you with the following:

Training Wage Subsidies are available with bi-weekly reimbursements. Our program allows for wage subsidies to be paid to eligible businesses when training a youth.
These subsidies assist with the cost related to new hires.
Job Trials can be negotiated. They allow participants to test out potential jobs, and the employers to evaluate the potential employees with little risk for either party. In many cases, these trials lead to employment.
We can post job vacancies with no charge to you.
Job Connect can assist your business with finding suitable candidates for interviewing.
We can gather and pre-screen applications for your business.
All program required paperwork is completed at your job-site.
We offer continued follow-up to ensure the success of the new employee.

Be licensed to operate in Ontario;
Demonstrate the ability to provide the trainee with adequate supervision, and the training described in the training plan;
Provide employment in Ontario;
Place trainees on the company's payroll and provide the same employment terms, conditions, and benefits as for all regular employees;
Comply with the Occcupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act;
Maintain appropriate WSIB or alternate workplace safety insurance coverage;
Have adequate third party general liability insurance;
Comply with all applicable federal and provincial human rights legislation, regulations, and any other relevant standards; and
Comply with freedom of information and protection of privacy legislation.

Hire a spouse, sibling or child as a trainee;
Be receiving government funds from any other source for the same training placement;
Use trainees or students to displace existing staff or replace staff who are on lay-off.

Summer Jobs Service (SJS) is a summer program providing employment supports to students and wage subsidies to employers who hire students. Summer Jobs Service is provincially funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and is delivered locally by the Multi-Service Centre (MSC).

To qualify for the Summer Jobs Service program, students must be:
- 15-24 years of age or up to 29 years with a disability
- must be planning on returning to school in the Fall
Employers; we can help you with the following:

A wage subsidy of $2/hr for each student you hire
Free advertising (job postings and prescreening)
- Operate and offer the job(s) in Ontario;
- Be in the Private, non-profit or broader public (municipalities, schools, universities, colleges and hospitals) or agricultural sectors;
- Not be related to the student(s) they are hiring;
- Have workplace safety and insurance coverage (WSIB) or equivalent (private insurance carrier);
- Have third party liability isurance (to cover the costs of possible damages caused by clients while on the job);
- Not hire the student(s) prior to applying for the program (an exception to this criterion is that any student whose part time position (24 hours a week or less) would increase to a full time position (35 hours a week or more) for the summer months, would be eligible for SJS);
- Not displace existing staff with students hired through this program;
- Not be receiving any other type of government funding for the same positions.

| Resource Centre: |
The MSC Resource Centre served 18,451 clients from September 2004 to August 2005, either providing direct service, information, or referring clients to other programs within The Livingston Centre. According to survey results, nearly 100% of these clients indicated high satisfaction with our services rating this service and its team as excellent or very good. Also, in nearly every case, clients stated that they found the information they were looking for and found the staff helpful, informative and courteous.
Some of the varied and free services offered in the Resource Centre include:

Information on obtaining Birth Certificates, Social Insurance Numbers, applying for Employment Insurance and access to many other Federal and Provincial services.
Personal assistance with accessing internet information and computer software
Workshop training and assistance using Winway to create resumes.
Booking appointments for employment counselling and training.
Access to internet for job search and career exploration.
Innumerable hands-on resources to assist in job search and career exploration such as a fax machine, photo-copier, telephones, ten computers, printers, directories, college and university information, books, magazines, newspapers, and job bank.
Changes will always take place, but one thing is constant in the Resource Centre, and that is the commitment to and delivery of quality service to our clients.
