Post Secondary Programs:

Currently Fanshawe College - Oxford County Division one full-time post-secondary program, Personal Support Worker at it's Tillsonburg site. In the fall of 2004, the Computer Applications Support program will also be offered in Tillsonburg.

The Personal Support Worker program is a 20-week training program that consolidates and replaces Health Care Aide and Home Support Worker Levels 1,2, and 3. Personal Support Worker graduates provide long-term care and support services to people living at home and in long-term care facilities. Upon successful completion of the entire 500 hour program, a Personal Support Worker Certificate will be awarded. This program begins in early November of each year.

The Computer Applications Support Program is a 30 week program that provides students with the necessary skills to become a Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certified at the Expert Level. Also included will be components pertaining to hardware, operating systems and network technologies to enable a graduate to assist in an I.T. department. Students will develop skills related to providing end-user guidance, as well as the ability to create effective, user-friendly instruction materials. Graduates may find employment as information system assistants, junior help desk advisors, data processing assistants, in-house computer software trainers, computer operators or advanced level clerical support positions.

Adult Training:

The Tillsonburg Centre offers two full-time certificate programs, Bookkeeping Certificate and Computerized Office Essentials Certificate.

The Bookkeeping Certificate is designed to assist individuals in acquiring and upgrading their business and accounting skills as a certified bookkeeper. All courses have been recognized and approved by the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (416 - 366 - 2856) as being equivalent to the Certified Bookkeeper program.

The Computerized Office Essentials Certificate offers up-to-date computer labs and software, small class size - individual attention. The course studies Hardware, Windows, Miscrosoft Office and Desktop Publishing, Internet and E-Mail, Manual and Computerized Accounting, Resume Writing and Job Search Skills.
